A 2010 DownBeat Magazine "Rising Star" poll winner, Sachal Vasandani presented his distinctive blend of jazz and pop with the critically acclaimed album, We Move in 2009. He is an introspective, gifted, young artist with an exceptional grasp of communicating his life experience through his music - whether its his own heartfelt songwriting or interpretation of others writing and standards, the end result is rewarding, meaningful, and intelligent. In addition, his work not only satisfies traditional jazz lovers and critics - it opens the enigmatic jazz doors to a new audience of young listeners attracted to the sincerity and skill set of someone of their own generation who 'speaks' to them.

The Chicago-born jazz singer first attracted attention when he was named Down Beat Magazine's Collegiate Jazz Vocalist of the Year in 1999. He has worked with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. His debut recording, Eyes Wide Open, lead to tours and opening for artists such as jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and pop singer Joan Osborne. Vasandani's second album, 2009's We Move, was chosen as a New York Times Critic's Pick.

In a review of Eyes Wide Open, The Boston Globe said Vasandani was "mature in sound and rich in texture but also possesses enough youthful angst in its lyrical themes to ward off the fogeyism that male vocalists so easily slip into before their time."
